I hadn’t set them up to succeed. I couldn’t delegate, I couldn’t grow, and burnout was my constant shadow. Next, I leaned on my engineering roots for systems thinking—breaking big jobs into repeatable steps anyone could follow. Suddenly, my employees knew what to do without bugging me every five minutes. I even used the RACI model—who’s Responsible, Accountable, Communicates, and stays Informed—to wrap it all up. That leaking roof? Now it’s a checklist: inspect, quote, approve, fix—done. It took time to build, but once I did, I wasn’t drowning anymore—I was steering.

Cash flow stabilized too—those overdue payment systems kept money coming in, so contractors got paid on time, and owners trusted me more.
